Hi—I’m Stan Van Steel, founder and owner of Pro Studio HQ. I’ve spent 20+ years helping musicians and creators bring their vision to life without all the industry BS. No gatekeeping, no ego—just honest work from someone who gets it.

🎛️ From Tape Decks to Pro Tools

I didn’t come from a rich background. My first setup was straight hustle:

📼 Dual tape deck recorder
💿 CD recorder (probably a Sony or Philips)
🎙️ Radio Shack mic + a Rane MP mixer
🎹 Roland SP-505 groovebox

I’d run a beat from an MP3 player into one channel, the mic through delay on the other, and record straight to CD or tape. No plugins. No safety net. Just vibes and heart.

🖥️ My Digital Come-Up

I started with Reason when it couldn’t even record audio yet. Latency in Ableton was trash. I broke stuff, tested gear, and learned the hard way. Then my grandpa came through with an M-Audio 410 and Pro Tools M-Powered. That changed everything.

He didn’t just invest in gear—he invested in me. And I’ve carried that with me every day since.

📣 My First Clients

Back when MySpace and Austin Chronicle classifieds were the move, I was already out here offering recording and mixing services. I wasn’t the biggest—just the most committed.

People didn’t want fancy. They wanted someone to press record, give feedback, and care. That’s still the vibe today.
